About us

A history of three generations

LISHA - Essential Oils

We are producers of essential oils located in the governorate of Gharbeya, in the delta of the Nile, well known for its Neroli and Jasmin production.

Since 3 generations we have been cultivating the Bitter Orange tree, indeed our speciality, as well as other plants used for the essential oil or food production.

The history of our family started in the 1960s with Ali, his wife Samira and then their children, who started just as cultivators, picking up and selling Jasmine flowers and Bitter Orange flowers for distilleries of essential oils. Then Mohy, Ali and Samira's eldest son, decided to set up our own essential oil distillery.

Afterwards, in 2018, Mohy's son - Ali - decided to renew the family business with his brothers' help, Hassan and Mohammed, buying new distillery equipments from Germany and founding the company LISHA. Today we can proudly say, with no hesitation, that LISHA is producing the best Neroli oils in the region!

Eventually, in 2019, Sofia, Hassan's wife, founded the LISHA Essential Oils company. Located in the South of France, where Sofia lives with her husband and son. The company purposes are to help Ali to put in value our oils of excellent quality and sell them directly in Europe, avoiding other intermediaries.

LISHA Essential Oils

Sofia decided to found the company LISHA Essential Oils, after obtaining a PhD in ecology. She was deeply moved from the fact that her family-in-law needed more visibility and recognition for our wonderful essential oils.

With LISHA Essential Oils, Sofia takes care of certifying the quality thanks to analysis performed by independent laboratories in France, and of the regulatory affairs. Sofia is also responsible for import, deliveries and after-sales services targeting a maximum satisfaction for our customers.

Even if she came from a slightly different background, she has become extremely passionate by the LISHA Essential Oils project, as it is all about plants, fragrances, health, fair trade, and human connections. You can count on her for any question you may have on our products and services.

Our guarantees: if you intend to use our essential oils for fragrance and perfume creations, aromatherapy or aromatic preparations, we promise you strong transparency and full traceability of our products, which are the best quality products available in Egypt, and last but not least a personalised service, tailored on the needs of your business :  we can take care of the import or you can import yourself our products from Egypt and you can order from few grams to tons as there is not a minimum of command.

To produce essentials oils and absolutes, Ali picks up the flowers cultivated in our fields, with the help of his brother and other seasonal collaborators.

Flowers are fully collected by hand. Once collected, they (or other plant materials) are placed in the distillation tanks, where the steam produced by a steam boiler will pass through the flowers, bringing with it the aromatic components previously trapped in the plant blossoms. The distillation process is extremely delicate: steam pressure, temperature and distillation time must be carefully balanced and well supervised to obtain high-quality essential oils.

Another method to extract the essences of flowers is the extraction by (volatile) solvents. This method is used for the flowers, as the Jasmine, that are too fragile to bare the high temperature of steam distillation.

Ali is also responsible for the quality control of our products: he analyses our essential oils in an independent laboratory in Cairo. His brother Mohammed, with his company LISHA Essential Oils Egypt, is responsible for logistics and exportation processes to allow Sofia to take over in Europe.
